The history of this government's actions on the water crisis are a joke. And if it weren't so serious, the north-south pipeline would be the biggest joke of all.
Its about time city-centric people took the time to drive the two hours to the Goulburn and actually see first hand the levels, or lack thereof, of water in this river. Perhaps the dribble coming from the mouths of Brumby and Holding should be piped into Melbournes toilets, not the water that is essential for food production.
Why Doesnt Brumby spend the money Pluging the Maroondah Aquaduct that goes from Maroondah Dam to Sugarloaf, It leaks everywhere - It was made in the 1930's with rivited steel pipe, and open channels - Its time it was fixed ! That will save lots of water !!! with out taking it from a river that doenst have any !!!
Why isn't the reservoir in the Lerderderg gorge upsteam of Bacchus Marsh, surveyed in the mid 1930's and didn't go ahead because of WW2, on the governments agenda now, probably too easy. It would solve the need for flood mitigation in the Lerderderg and Werribee rivers and could be gravity reticulated into western Melbourne Regards, David
